We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our team
What You Will DoAs an Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring that Council's financial accounting functions run smoothly across multiple entities, both internal and external.
Working closely with the Senior Tax & Treasury Accountant and the Treasury & Taxation unit, you will help deliver comprehensive financial reporting, budget preparation, and management of Council's long-term financial plans.You will also have the opportunity to provide professional accounting advice and business services support to external not-for-profit organisations, contributing to their success and sustainability.
Your role will involve a variety of responsibilities, from preparing statutory returns and managing treasury services, to assisting with internal reviews and delivering high-quality financial reports.
What We Are Looking ForBachelor of Commerce / Business or similar.Studying towards, or eligibility and willingness to study, Certified Practising Accountant status (CPA Australia) or Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia).
Experience working in a relevant finance field.Understanding of relevant Accounting Standards.Sound understanding of accounting systems, computer concepts and programs.High level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word.High level numerical, analytical skills and attention to detail.Well-developed interpersonal skills, including demonstrated liaison, consultation and negotiation skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
