We are now recruiting for a **Health & Safety Officer** to join our team based in **Fortitude Valley** on a **Permanent, Full-Time** basis.
**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The primary responsibility of a** Health & Safety Officer **is to work alongside our multi-disciplinary team at our Head Office to assist in ensuring a high level of safety is maintained throughout the Y, across all of our facilities and services.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited too):
- Provide administrative support and assist the WHS Team in carrying out operational activities
- Assist in maintenance of WHS Team safety documents and electronic filing systems
- Provide basic health and safety advice in response to enquiries from Y facilities;
- Assist in collection and preparation of WHS data for statistical and reporting purposes
- Assist in preparation of monthly reports on health and safety
- Assist in carrying out WHS monitoring activities at facilities
- Participate in the development of the WHS Management System
- Carry out research and assist in health and safety project support
- Identifying hazards, risks and reporting
- Processing of workers compensation claims and coordination of injured workers return to work.
**SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Recent experience in a similar role or role as rehabilitation and return to work coordinator;
- A relevant qualification in Health and Safety. Cert IV
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of health and safety and workers compensation legislation.
- Current (P) Blue Card or willingness to obtain.
- C - Class driver's license.
- Ability to problem solve and use good judgement.
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Work well as part of a team
- High attention to detail and proven ability to identify hazards in the workplace.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of computer skills in Microsoft suite of products
