Our ClientCourt Services Victoria (CSV) is a body corporate established by the Court Services Victoria Act 2014 to provide administrative support and facilities to Victoria's courts: the Supreme Court, the County Court, the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court and the Coroners Court, as well as the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, the Judicial College of Victoria and the Judicial Commission of Victoria (collectively known as the Courts Group).
This support includes the provision of legal and governance services across commercial, administrative law and litigation requirements as they impact on the Courts Group day-to-day operations.The RoleThere is now a highly coveted opportunity for a Senior Lawyer (VPS 5) to join the in-house Office of General Counsel team, reporting to the Manager, Legal & Governance.
The role will include but is not limited to:-Providing authoritative, timely and practical legal advice and services to CSV Corporate and the Courts Group on a range of legal issues including commercial and procurement law, public law, administrative law and statutory interpretation.
Effectively manage complaints, disputes, claims and litigation matters.
Perform legal research and analysis and draft cogent, accurate, and complex legal opinions.
Ensure compliance with CSV's legislative obligations including in relation to freedom of information and privacy.
Review and advise on policies and procedures.
Draft, negotiate and review legal instruments across a broad range of areas including commercial contracts, property agreements and MOUs.
The role will suit candidates with strong commercial experience (procurements, contracts) preferably with some government or public sector exposure.Salary range is in accordance with VPS range - VPS5 is $113,022 - $136,747 + 12% superannuation.
