Metrea also maintains nine Support Groups that act as a global shared-service function for the core capability domains above. These Groups guide and enable the development of Metrea's products, projects, and programs to help them achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively.



Position Summary


Metrea is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Support Engineer to provide operational support for their cloud-hosted and desktop solutions deployed across virtual machines, Kubernetes and PC environments. This role will primarily focus on Azure-hosted solutions, with AWS experience considered a bonus. The successful candidate will ensure system reliability, security compliance, and operational excellence, including participation in an on‑call rotation.



Role and Responsibilities

* Provide support for cloud and desktop-based applications running in environments utilizing both Kubernetes, Windows VMs and Windows 11, ensuring SLA agreed uptime and performance.

* Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues across virtual machines and containerized workloads.

* Implement and maintain observability tools for proactive monitoring and alerting.

* Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve root causes of recurring issues.

* Ensure compliance with Australian security frameworks, including PSPF / ISM and IRAP assisting with audits and documentation when required.

* Participate in an on‑call rotation responding to incidents and ensuring rapid resolution outside of core work hours.

* Contribute to incident post‑mortems and continuous improvement initiatives.

* Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting guides for internal knowledge sharing.

* Collaborate closely with your teammates, including being a significant contributor to code reviews, promoting good practices which will improve accessibility, performance, stability, security and overall quality of the code.

* Regularly mentoring other less experienced engineers and help with on‑boarding new engineers to your team.




Skills and Experience

* HND or BSc level qualification in Software Engineering or equivalent Computer Science related discipline

* 3+ years of demonstrable experience in an active software development or support role, developing web-based applications.

* Strong understanding and practical experience of using Kubernetes within a service‑based, cloud hosted, architecture.

* Understanding and experience of team delivery in an Agile software development environment.

* Drive to learn constantly and further your knowledge.

* Strong organizational skills, proactive approach to task delivery and required documentation.

* Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and Azure Monitor.

* Great interpersonal skills, able to confidently communicate and articulate technical issues to non‑technical team members.



In addition to the above, any of the following would be beneficial:

* Experience working on geospatial visualization products.

* Experience of developing with C#.

* Experience working with relational and/or non‑relational databases.

Security Clearance


Must be an Australian Citizen capable of obtaining or holding an NV1 Security Clearance.



Position Type and Expected Hours of Work


This is a full‑time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Employees must have the ability to be on‑call and available, as business needs require. On‑call time will be rostered and expected to be 1 week in every 4‑week period.
