Project overview
Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. Pluto Train 2 will process Scarborough gas and have an LNG capacity of ~5 million tonnes per annum. As part of the construction of Pluto Train 2, additional domestic gas infrastructure will be installed to increase capacity to ~225 Terajoules per day. Woodside Energy has selected Bechtel to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning scope of work for Pluto Train 2. Woodside Energy is Australia\'s leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.
Job summary
In this role, you will assist in interpreting and integrating health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations. You will provide input and technical guidance, assist with communications, track performance trends, and conduct inspections and monitoring. Your work will help keep employees safe by contributing to continuous improvement of project health and safety.
Major responsibilities
* Assist execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
* Assist development and implementation of Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
* Provide input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups to assure that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
* Interpret safety and health requirements and provide guidance on risk assessment and ESH program execution.
* Research issues and regulatory requirements and prepare documentation and reports.
* Provide support and guidance for ESH permits, risk assessments and other safety and health reviews.
* Participate in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
* Interface and communicate with stakeholders and help resolve their ESH concerns.
* Participate in meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
* Conduct ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.
Education and experience requirements
* Degree or Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related science/engineering area related to occupational safety or health and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
* General Construction Safety Induction (White Card).
Required knowledge and skills
* Proficiency in assisting construction with development of risk assessments and associated job hazard analysis.
* Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft software applications.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Be solution orientated with effective and efficient time management to deliver a quality product.
* Proficiency in assisting construction with development of risk assessments and associated job hazard analysis.
* Ability to work respectfully in a diverse team environment.
* Previous refinery/chemical/LNG plant construction HSE experience is preferred.
Additional information
This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
