Transport Drivers (Truck Driver) play a critical role in the heavy vehicle transportation of linen, clinical and non-clinical supplies to Queensland Health hospitals and health facilities across Queensland.
This includes loading and unloading supplies into heavy vehicles within Queensland Health Distribution Centres, Laundries and various destinations across the Queensland Health network of facilities.
What you'll do
Manual loading and unloading of all vehicles using roll-on/roll-off trolleys, tallboys, pallets and/or roll cages in a safe manner.
Delivery and collection of handling units in accordance with relevant schedules, work instructions, procedures and policies.
Operate all heavy vehicles and associated vehicles as required within Queensland Government Road rules and in compliance with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) including licensing requirements, speed limits, load restraint, tailgate operation, pre-operational checks and safe driving behaviours.
Comply with the organisation's policies on HVNL including pre-operational checks and fatigue recording keeping.
Keep accurate, legible vehicle logs/driving records and submit to your supervisor at the end of each shift.
Vehicle logs and driving records are required under HVNL and must be in hard-copy paper or electronic formats as directed by management.
Mandatory cleaning of vehicle interior cab (daily) and body as per operational procedure and infection control requirements.
About you
A current Medium Rigid, Heavy Rigid, or (highly desirable) Heavy Combination licence, mandatory and must remain current for the duration of employment.
A current Forklift or High-Risk-to-Work licence would also be highly regarded.
A safe and responsible driver with a clean driving record.
A sound knowledge of chain-of-responsibility compliance.
Physically fit and capable of undertaking the physical demands of the role including loading and unloading trolleys.
Adopting safe work practices to ensure your own safety, and that of workmates, customers and the public.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Displaying dependable and professional behaviour when representing the business unit at delivery points.
Adaptable and flexible to run rotations with varying routes and schedules.
A team-player attitude.
