Our client is seeking an experienced Site WHS / EHS Manager to join a major construction project in regional Queensland.
This is a site‐based role supporting the delivery of a critical power infrastructure project, with a planned site start in early August 2026. The successful candidate will need to be available to commence with the project team in June 2026 to support early works and mobilisation.
The Project
* Large‐scale power infrastructure project
* Located west of Brisbane near Chinchilla
* Construction‐focused environment with multiple contractors and interfaces
* Strong emphasis on safety leadership, compliance, and proactive risk management
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the site‐based WHS/EHS representative for the project
* Lead and manage all WHS and environmental matters on site
* Implement and maintain the Project WHS Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan in line with QLD legislation
* Provide expert WHS advice to the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and site leadership team
* Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and SWMS reviews
* Lead incident, near‐miss and hazard reporting and investigations
* Chair toolbox talks, pre‐starts and safety briefings
* Engage with subcontractors to ensure strong WHS compliance and safety culture
* Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders where required
* Prepare regular WHS and EHS reporting for project and leadership teams
About You
You are a confident, hands‐on safety professional who thrives in construction environments and can build credibility quickly on site.
* 5–8+ years WHS/EHS experience in construction
* Strong background in civil and/or electrical projects
* Sound working knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation
* Experience working under a Principal Contractor framework
* Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety
* QLD White Card
* Full and unrestricted AU working rights
* Ability to work full‐time on site in regional Queensland
Highly regarded:
* Prior experience on substation, grid, or power infrastructure projects
* Renewable energy or electrical infrastructure exposure
* ICAM / TapRooT / Lead Investigator training
* ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 Internal Auditor experience
* First Aid & CPR; Working at Heights; Electrical Safety training
