Foreman Position Overview
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills and a strong ability to mentor and monitor the workshop team. They will ensure that apprentices have opportunities to develop their skills, technicians in the workshop have everything they need to work effectively, and make the best use of workshop space and resourcing to meet customer needs.
This role requires close collaboration with the Service Manager to ensure field and workshop operations operate cohesively. Key tasks and responsibilities include:
* Assigning jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skills and knowledge.
* Participating in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and reviewing them for accuracy and completeness.
* Directing and assisting in the diagnosis of machine problems of technicians and apprentices.
* Inspecting and repairing all special tools and recommending new tooling as required.
* Advising the Service Manager or Service Location Manager of all customer complaints.
* Coordinating and scheduling all in-house technician training.
* Assisting the Service Manager or Service Location Manager with coordinating and conducting quarterly safety meetings.
* Filling the Service Manager or Service Location Manager role in their absence.
* Arranging for and participating in the re-conditioning of used equipment and set-up of new equipment.
* Approving the release of equipment for delivery to the customer.
