The Role
Our client is seeking a passionate and culturally grounded Case Worker to join their Counselling, Intervention and Support Service (CISS) in Inala. This role provides culturally safe, trauma-informed and family-centred support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract, with the possibility for extension.
Working closely with counselling practitioners, Child Safety and community stakeholders, you will support case management, deliver outreach-based services, and contribute to healing, connection and long-term wellbeing for children and families.
This role is ideal for someone who is values-driven, community focused and committed to culturally responsive practice.
Key Responsibilities
You are a compassionate and capable practitioner who brings strong cultural awareness, excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
In this role, you will:
* Provide culturally safe mental health and wellbeing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people
* Support suicide prevention and early intervention through strengths-based, trauma-informed practice
* Manage an active caseload including intake, assessment, safety planning, case planning and review
* Identify, assess and respond to emotional distress, suicide risk and psychosocial needs
* Deliver outreach-based support in homes, community settings and office locations
* Support connection to culture, family, community and culturally informed healing activities
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, mental health services, Child Safety and external providers
* Maintain accurate case notes, assessments and reports
You will also have:
* Experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families
* Strong case management and documentation skills
* A trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to practice
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities
* Excellent communication, organisational, and case planning skills
* Competence in Microsoft Office and database systems
Probity Requirements
* Minimum Certificate III in Mental Health, Counselling or related field
* Current QLD Driver Licence
* Possession of, or ability to obtain, a ‘Positive Notice’ Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
* First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain (the employer will cover this cost).
* Willingness to undergo a National Police and Criminal History Check (the employer will cover this cost).
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Card (or willingness to obtain at own expense)
Remuneration and Benefits
* SCHADS Level 4 - $88,099.44 – $94,791.84 per year + 12% super
