Our vision underpins all our work. It reflects the objectives of the NZEA Act, which directs us to:Promote orderly and positive economic transformation.Facilitate greenhouse gas emissions reductions.Ensure regions, communities and workers are supported to manage the impacts, and share in the benefits, of the net zero economy.The authority is presently establishing itself as a separate entity, including off-boarding from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C). The authority is expected to transition shortly to being a separate entity from PM&C, at which time, all employees will transfer under Machinery of Government (MoG) changes to the authority.About the BranchThe authority has a legislated function to encourage, support, develop and deliver educational and promotional initiatives for the purpose of promoting an understanding of, and enabling participation in, Australia’s transition to a net zero emissions economy.The Communications Branch drives the delivery of this function and is responsible for managing communications to support Australian communities and their economic transition.The Branch collaborates within the authority, and with external partners, to deliver targeted communications strategies and products to meet the needs of our audiences, and meet the business requirements of the authority.There are two sections within the branch:Strategic CommunicationsDigital, Media and DesignWhat you’ll be doingWe are seeking applications from experienced managers and communications professionals, to fill two Executive Level 2 Director roles to lead the Strategic Communications and Digital, Media and Design Sections.Directors are an important part of the branch leadership group, and supports the team to work collaboratively with the CEO’s Office to achieve strong communication outcomes for the authority. As a key business partner to other teams across the organisation, the Directors will build and nurture strong relationships across the authority and with media organisations, communities and stakeholders externally.In addition to the general responsibilities and duties outlined in the Work Level Standards for the Executive Level 2 level, Directors will lead and manage a small team (around 5-8 staff each) to deliver the associated functions of their relevant section as outlined below.The Strategic and Internal Communications section is responsible for:Developing and implementing regional communication strategies.Supporting the development of the communications products for key projects under the Net Zero Jobs Plan.Producing information and education material to convey key messages regarding the transition to net zero.Leading inter-departmental engagement and support for whole-of-government net zero communication activities.Building and nurturing communications partnerships.The Digital, Media and Design section is responsible for:Media management and strategy.Executive communications support, including the Spokesperson Framework.Advice on sponsorship proposals.External monthly stakeholder newsletter.Netzero.gov.au website content creation, planning and management.Social media channel management, maintenance and strategy.NZEA brand, tone and voice.Digital asset design and production and digital library development.Why you’re the ideal candidatePlease refer to the downloaded Candidate Information Pack for more details.You are passionate about proactively managing quality communication outputs to win the hearts and minds of key audiences and stakeholders. Being an adaptable team player and being comfortable juggling multiple priorities is a must.In addition to meeting the behaviours outlined in the Integrated Leadership System profile of the Executive Level 2 level, our ideal candidate will have significant experience working in a strategic communications, media manager, digital lead or marketing role, or equivalent, with expertise in:Leading the development and delivery of impactful, insight-driven, audience first communications materials and campaigns.Operationalising communications strategies by developing, implementing and evaluating content and products to meet both business and audience requirements.Managing and building digital channels with demonstrated increases in reach and engagement.Managing and maintaining a media function.Financial acumen to manage budgets, procurements, contracts and delivery timelines.Building team knowledge growth and organisational capability to enhance communication efforts.An understanding of data analytics, measurement and experience in undertaking evaluation reporting.Strong leadership, managerial and stakeholder relationship management experience.Extensive knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, procurement and financial management and authority guidelines, policies and ways of working.Flexibility arrangementsAt PM&C we recognise the broad benefits of offering flexibility in how, when and where work is performed.
