Job Description
Mr Lumberjack The Arborist role at Mr Lumberjack is a full-time position responsible for delivering professional tree care and maintenance services in a safe, efficient and reliable manner.
The purpose of the role is to ensure trees are properly maintained, hazards are identified and managed, and all arboricultural work is completed to a high standard in compliance with workplace health and safety requirements. The position involves inspecting and assessing trees to identify hazards, disease, decay and structural defects, and determining appropriate treatment, pruning or removal methods. Duties include pruning, trimming and shaping trees using hand and power tools, removing dead or hazardous trees, grinding stumps, and carrying out climbing, rigging and elevated work platform operations to safely access tree canopies.
The role also includes providing specialist assessment and advice on individual trees and broader tree management in urban environments, including risk assessment, species selection, site suitability and long-term planning. In addition, the Arborist is required to operate and maintain arboricultural equipment and machinery in accordance with safety standards, maintain site safety, liaise with clients and team members regarding job requirements and site conditions, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Task & responsibilities Key duties and responsibilities include: Inspecting trees to assess their condition and identify hazards, disease, decay, structural defects, or risks associated with falling limbs or trees Determining and undertaking appropriate treatment, pruning, maintenance, or removal actions Pruning, trimming, shaping, and maintaining trees and shrubs using chainsaws, handsaws, and other arboricultural equipment Removing dead, dangerous, or decaying trees and grinding out tree stumps Performing climbing, rigging, and ground-based arboricultural duties using ropes, harnesses, and elevated work platforms where required Operating arboriculture tools, machinery, plant, and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders, in a safe and efficient manner Maintaining site safety and complying with work health and safety policies, procedures, and risk controls at all times Liaising with clients and team members regarding job requirements, site conditions, and work outcomes Assisting with vegetation management, emergency tree works, and other related arboricultural services as required The successful applicant is expected to complete all work to a high professional standard while ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality service delivery. Qualification & experience
The successful applicant should hold an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or have at least three years of relevant work experience, together with a valid driver licence and good practical knowledge of tree maintenance and safe work practices.
