Base pay range
A$200,000.00/yr - A$240,000.00/yr
About the Role
You will provide expert legal advice on a broad range of regulatory matters, with a focus on consumer credit, deposit-taking, and prudential compliance. This role is critical in managing legal risk, supporting business objectives, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice across the bank\'s operations, products, and regulatory obligations
Advise on consumer credit matters under the National Credit Code and broader retail banking regulation
Review product collateral and assess legal incidents or breaches, including regulator engagement (ASIC/APRA)
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage relationships with external legal counsel
Contribute to a high-performing, visible legal team that partners effectively with the business
What We\'re Looking For
A Senior lawyer with a strong grounding in financial services or banking law from a financial institution or mid/top tier law firm
Demonstrated experience in consumer credit, retail banking regulation, and prudential standards
Retail banking credit experience under the National Credit Code
ADI deposit-taking regulation and operations experience is a plus
Solid understanding of prudential standards and APRA requirements
ASIC/APRA engagement, breach reporting regimes
Knowledge of the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice is a plus
