How you’ll make a difference
As a Visitor Services Officer, you’ll be the welcoming face of Hepburn Shire—helping visitors discover the unique experiences, attractions and stories that make our region special. You’ll ensure our Visitor Information Centres operate smoothly and professionally, providing friendly, accurate and helpful support to everyone who walks through the door.
Working closely with our volunteers, local businesses and the Economic Development & Visitor Economy team, you’ll enhance the visitor experience, support tourism operators, and contribute to initiatives that showcase the very best of Hepburn Shire.
Our ideal candidate
You’re someone who thrives in a customer-focused environment and genuinely enjoys engaging with people from all backgrounds. You bring strong communication skills, a warm and professional approach, and the ability to stay calm, positive and solutions-focused when things get busy.
You have experience in tourism, customer service or a related field, and you’re confident supervising volunteers and supporting day-to-day centre operations. Organised, proactive and a natural team player, you’re comfortable using digital systems and passionate about promoting local experiences. Most importantly, you live our values—accountability, respect, excellence, trust and fun.
What Hepburn can offer you?
At Hepburn Shire Council, you’ll be part of a supportive, community-minded team in one of Victoria’s most beautiful and vibrant regions. We offer flexible working arrangements, a strong culture of inclusion, and great opportunities for professional development.
You’ll have access to wellbeing programs, annual salary progression through development planning, and the chance to build your career in a thriving tourism destination surrounded by natural beauty—all while making a genuine difference to the community.
What better way to spend your time off than exploring the picturesque beauty with forests, natural springs and rolling landscapes. Bicycle and walking trails, locally grown food, the variety of dining options, creative arts offerings (galleries, festivals), and markets enhance the appeal of living in or near our stunning region. All this is only an hour and a half from Melbourne.
