About the role
Parks Victoria uses piloted aircraft for a variety of purposes including project delivery, servicing remote visitor facilities, aerial animal surveys and pest animal control and also owns and operates a fleet of remotely piloted aircraft flown under licenses issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. As the Operations Lead Aerial Land Management, your purpose is to provide leadership and specialist technical knowledge and experience towards the coordination and delivery of Parks Victoria's aviation activities.
About Us - Conservation, Science and Fire
The Conservation, Science and Fire directorate oversees the provision of state-wide specialist resources in conservation, science and fire. It provides leadership and coordination of the statewide nature conservation program by developing strategy and tools; providing advice and support; enabling partnerships; setting standards and enabling monitoring, evaluation, reporting and improvement (MERI). These activities enable evidence-based decision making by the organisation and improves the effectiveness of management. The directorate leads state-wide coordination and strategy for fire and emergency and liaises with the Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA) and other emergency services organisations. The directorate provides strategic operational direction, advice and expertise for the Operations Division in fire and emergency management.
We're looking for someone with:
* Must be a licenced Remote Pilot with demonstrated extensive experience (minimum 50 hours) in the management and operation of Remotely Piloted Aircraft.
* Demonstrated extensive experience in aviation management including provision of expert technical advice and support to aerial Land Management programs is essential.
