Salary Range: CSERV 7 ($1,469.90 per week + superannuation) (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary Full-time

Duration: Up to 12 months (Extension/s thereafter but not guaranteed).

Customer Services delivers a range of services to the residents, visitors and businesses of Brisbane. Whether it be contacting our Contact Centre, requesting building plans, applying to light up a Council asset, needing a food business licence or looking for your lost property – we are here to help. For over a decade, our branch has been Council's front line for customers, through a collaboration of 3 critical teams bringing together customer service, insights, policy, process, governance, and projects to deliver outstanding experiences for our community.

Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS) supplies services which help make Brisbane a fairer and safer place 24/7. Our focus is our Community Value, and we engage with people across the City in a consistent, responsive way, making strong decisions to resolve problems and deliver solutions.

The Role

Join our Compliance and Regulatory Services team as a City Safety Officer and play an important role in keeping our community safe. This role focuses on responding to community concerns, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with local laws and Queensland legislation. You will work closely with the public to resolve issues through education, mediation and enforcement, helping prevent problems from reoccurring.

This is a hands‐on role that requires strong investigation skills, sound judgement and excellent customer service. You will conduct investigations, gather evidence, prepare reports, and where required present evidence in court. Experience working with animals, regulatory compliance, or enforcement environments will be highly regarded.

We are looking for someone who can work both independently and as part of a team, manage challenging situations professionally and make informed decisions while delivering fair and respectful service to the community.

Key Responsibilities
* respond to and investigate incidents regulated by local laws and state legislation
* gather evidence, interpret legislation and prepare investigation reports
* work with the community to resolve issues through education, mediation and enforcement
* support broader compliance and regulatory operations
* attend court and present evidence when required.
To be successful you will have:
* strong customer service and communication skills
* ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
* good investigation, analytical and problem‐solving skills
* ability to interpret and apply legislation
* experience working with animals, compliance or enforcement environments is highly regarded
* ability to use electronic systems and databases.
