Normanton State School is seeking applications for a Deputy Principal to join their leadership team on a temporary full-time basis from 14 July 2025 until 26 July 2026, unless otherwise determined. As the Deputy Principal, you will:
Improve the educational outcomes of students; Develop the quality of teaching and learning; Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community, and stakeholders. The Deputy Principal will report to the school principal and will be an integral part of the leadership team.
About Normanton State School Normanton State School is a remote, rural school offering learning experiences for students from Prep to Year 10. We are a co-educational school catering to students with diverse learning needs and interests.
Our focus is on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes. We base our curriculum on the Australian Curriculum using the Curriculum to Classroom (C2C) resources across all key learning areas. Students have specialist lessons in The Arts, Technology, ICT Skills, and Health and Physical Education from Prep to Year 10. Secondary students can choose from subjects including Manual Arts, Home Economics, Hospitality, and Industrial Technology and Design, with work experience opportunities in Years 9 and 10.
About the Role You will have responsibility for leading and delivering the following activities and key tasks:
Assist the Principal in leading the school community to develop and commit to a shared educational vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students; Deputise for the Principal when required; Uphold the deputy principalship as a values-based, ethical, and moral activity; Embed socially just practices in daily school life; Support staff with curriculum development, timetabling, moderation, classroom organization, and behavior management, including the implementation of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum; Support staff and students with wellbeing and engagement; Organize, promote, and run events, camps, excursions, and activities, including managing the school calendar and visitors; Ensure understanding and adherence to Risk Assessments, Workplace Health and Safety, and Medical and Health policies; Develop and implement rosters, timetables, and related documents; Oversee moderation, mentoring, and staff development, including for beginning and early career teachers; Support differentiation and support strategies for all students, including IEAL/D; Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's strategic direction as a leadership team member.
