We're seeking a standout Finance Manager to join the Forestry and Fibre Industry Division of Agriculture Victoria. We're a supportive and hard‑working team that's passionate about what we do. What we do:
The Forestry and Fibre Industry Division is investing in expanding Victoria's plantation estate, supporting the shift to net zero, and delivering programs that help businesses, workers and communities adapt following the end of native timber harvesting.
The role:
The Finance Manager is a key member of the division, responsible for leading and managing the development, implementation and delivery of the division's budget and financial management responsibilities.
You'll provide strategic advice and support to the Head of Office and Executive Director, ensuring sustainable budget strategies are implemented and risks to the division's financial position are identified and managed.
You will also coordination the division's reporting requirements including business planning, priority project reporting and risk management.
You'll be perfect for this role if you have:
* Sound budget and financial expertise, with experience managing team or divisional budgets.
* Knowledge of government financial management legislation, frameworks, and processes.
* Experience managing and coaching staff.
* Strong rapport with stakeholders and excellent communication skills.
* A commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
* Financial analysis experience in the public or private sector to provide expert advice to the senior leadership
* team in achieving deliverables.
* Deep understanding of and practical experience in applying the Financial Management Act 1994 and the
* Resource Management Framework to best bring practice in decision making.
* An appropriate business or finance related qualification will be highly regarded.
* A professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA) will be regarded.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2 years. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
