FES Super, a leading superannuation fund, offers various account types and investment options. Members include current and former DFES staff and affiliated organizations. We have an opportunity for a Senior Risk and Compliance Specialist to join our team.
This role suits a specialist with extensive experience or someone at management level who is open to a more hands-on role with minimal leadership requirements. Key responsibilities include managing member complaints, attending Board meetings, preparing risk and compliance reports, leading legislative review processes, coordinating internal audits, and maintaining governance disclosures.
Responsibilities:
* Complaints & Compliance: Manage member complaints, report data to ASIC, act as Compliance Officer for AML/CTF, and oversee legislation, Board policies, and Prudential Standards.
* Risk & Governance: Attend all Board and Strategy/Risk meetings, support the development and monitoring of the Risk Management Framework, prepare risk and compliance reports.
* Legislation & KPIs: Lead legislative review processes, draft Cabinet Submissions, liaise with legal counsel on Trust Deed updates, and prepare requests for KPI changes.
* Audits & Reviews: Coordinate internal audits, conduct the annual Business Performance Review, and prepare Board and public reports on outcomes.
* Board Support: Organise Audit & Governance Committee meetings, maintain governance disclosures, and advise on APRA reporting requirements.
* Member & Board Engagement: Conduct annual member surveys, prepare member newsletters, develop training materials, run Board performance assessments, and draft new member documents.
* Mentorship: Manage and mentor junior staff.
Requirements:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, finance, governance, risk, or related field.
* Previous experience in a similar governance, compliance, or superannuation role.
* Knowledge of Board vs management duties and responsibilities.
* Understanding of s52 SIS covenants, SIS legislation, trust law, and prudential requirements.
* Awareness of when to seek technical advice and ability to make informed decisions based on expert input.
* Working knowledge of accounting, auditing, and operational processes.
* Knowledge and experience of investment concepts.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
