This is a full-time on-site role for a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Melbourne in Parkville, VIC. Funded PhD position/s available in experimental optics for super-resolution microscopy (PSF engineering for volumetric light-sheet microscopy), at the intersection of optics, biophysics, and micro-technology. This will include optical simulation, design, and construction of imaging systems and microscopes, design and clean-room micro-fabrication of optical elements, and validation via a variety of biophysical systems.

Required:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering (H1, GPA 3.4/4.0 or higher), interest in biophysics and optics.
English proficiency: IELTS (overall 6.5, minimum 6 in each component), TOEFL (minimum 20 in reading/writing and minimum 18 in speaking/listening).
Specific Requirements:
Proficiency in C/C++, Python and/or experience with hands-on optical experiments and/or micro-fabrication.
Knowledge of optical physics.
Experience in presenting scientific work via publications or seminars.
Languages: ENGLISH Level Excellent.
