About This Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our distribution team, based in either Sydney or Brisbane. This is a pivotal role at a firm experiencing a genuine growth inflection point - and the person we hire will have the opportunity to help shape our market presence for years to come.
As a trusted relationship manager for Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) and dealer groups across NSW and QLD, you will be the face of Antipodes and Maple-Brown Abbott in these markets. You will champion our high-quality investment, connect advisers to our award-winning fund range and drive meaningful inflows into our funds. You will work hand in glove with our investment teams to ensure their proposition is told clearly, credibly, and consistently.
Reporting to the Head of Distribution, you will have real autonomy, strong support, and every reason to succeed. If you thrive in a high-energy, intellectually stimulating environment where initiative is celebrated and results are recognised, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and deepen relationships with IFAs and dealer groups across NSW and QLD, becoming the trusted contact in those markets and driving net inflows into our fund range.
* Develop a deep, nuanced understanding of our investment teams and strategies so you can communicate our edge with authenticity and confidence to advisers and their clients.
* Stay ahead of market developments and regulatory shifts impacting the financial advice community, and translate these insights into relevant, timely client conversations.
* Collaborate with our investment, marketing and compliance teams to develop and deliver high-quality client communications that bring our investment story to life.
* Lead the onboarding of new adviser relationships and serve as the primary point of ongoing contact, ensuring our clients receive a seamless and exceptional experience at every touchpoint.
* Represent Antipodes and Maple-Brown Abbott at industry events, conferences, PD days and client meetings, building the firm's brands and profile in your markets.
* Contribute to the broader Distribution team strategy, sharing market intelligence, adviser feedback, and competitor insights to inform how we continue to improve and evolve.
Attributes, Skills & Qualifications
* A minimum of five years' experience in investment sales or business development within the financial services sector, with a demonstrated track record of building and converting adviser relationships.
* Strong understanding of public equities and, ideally, public credit, and genuine intellectual curiosity about how markets work.
* Exceptional communication and presentation skills — written and verbal — with the ability to distil complex investment ideas into clear, compelling narratives for a diverse adviser audience.
* High energy, commercial drive, and a proactive approach to prospecting and pipeline management.
* Proven relationship‐building capability: advisers should trust you, enjoy working with you, and want to give you more of their business.
* Comfortable working independently while remaining closely connected to and collaborative with a high-performing, geographically distributed team.
* Highly organised, accountable, and able to manage multiple priorities without losing momentum or quality.
