Seeking a Waste Facility Operator.
Our client, a local Government organisation based in Toowoomba, is currently seeking a Waste Facility Operator. This role will see you working Monday to Friday on temporary full-time basis, with a strong possibility of extension for the right person.
**Position Objective**:
The Waste Facility Operator position will be responsible for performing waste management facility operational tasks with a focus on customer control, plant or equipment operation and site maintenance.
This position will work under limited supervision.
**Daily task will include but not limited to**:
Under limited supervision, undertake a broad range of waste management facility operational tasks with a focus on, but not limited to:
- Controlling day-to-day activities at a small waste facility;
- Recycling and Diversion Operations;
- Supervision and Monitoring of Customers;
- Transfer Station Operations including pushing and loading waste into trucks;
- Site Maintenance Activities including grass and weed control and litter management.
- Inspect, clean, operate, maintain in good order vehicles, plant, tools and equipment in accordance with Council's policies, procedures and legislation and at all times and comply with Council's Fatigue Management Procedure and relevant legislative requirements.
- Monitor customer activities and ensure that they follow directions and signage and unload waste or materials in a safe manner and do not cause environmental harm or interfere with operations.
- Ensure the safety of self, other employees and the general public when performing all duties and comply with Council's Environmental Authority (EA) conditions, Environmental Management System (EMS) and Safety Management System (SMS) as they relate waste management facility operations and immediately report all incidents / accidents or near miss incidents (WH&S, Environment) to supervisor in accordance with Council procedures.
- Undertake the safe operation of plant and machinery, by ensuring that plant and machinery is not operated within five (5) metres of other personnel, other plant and members of the public.
- Successfully complete three (3) yearly VOCC assessments in accordance with Council's Procedure 3.5.2 WHS WP Verification of Current Competency.
**Position criteria**:
- Certificate III in Waste Management from a recognised tertiary institution or approved training provider with relevant experience, or a combination of experience, expertise and competence which enables the incumbent to perform all duties of the position is essential. If not held, the Certificate III in Waste Management must be completed within 24 months of commencement.
- Possession of a current 'MR' Class Licence.
- Possession of WH&S Competency Card for CPCCOHS1001A - Work Safely in the Construction Industry or 30215QLD - Course in General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) required.
- Possession of nationally recognised competencies of at least one (1) of the following major plant is required before commencement; but all competencies for major plant and minor equipment/machinery listed below must be acquired within six (6) months of commencement.

**Minor Equipment/Machinery**
- Ride on sweeper & Ride on mower
- Brush cutter & Blower
- Possession of a current "DrumMUSTER" inspector competency or willingness to obtain
