About the Role
Working within Maitland City Council's Planning & Environment Group, the Sustainability Officer will provide efficient and effective service in areas of environmental protection, improvement and sustainable practices and maintain and undertake programs and projects relevant to energy efficiency and emission reduction, water efficiency waste management, natural resource management, contamination and updated environmental legislation and policy.
As a Sustainability Officer, you will be responsible for investigating, developing, implementing and project managing sustainability matters with a particular focus on collecting and maintaining data sets required to facilitate decision making and track performance and the development of an Environmental Sustainability Strategy This role is also responsible for keeping up to date on environmental sustainability initiatives and implementing them in accordance with the organisations requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be tertiary qualified in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental engineering or an equivalent of relevant contemporary experience in an environmental role and may include those with other Engineering, Data and Spatial Science backgrounds.
You will have contemporary experience in the collation, management and analysis of data to derive insights to support decision making. Experience in use of remote sensing and a demonstrated experience in project management will be considered an advantage.
You will be flexible and adaptable demonstrating a capacity to take on a range of tasks that relate to broader environmental sustainability issues.
Benefits
This temporary 12 month, full-time position has a salary range of $85,516.90 up to $94,923.76 per year based on demonstrated competencies + 11% p.a. super.
