The Role
As the APS 6 Security Advisor within the SEA5000 Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) Project, you will help coordinate security operations for the HCF Branch and provide protective security advice to a range of Project stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Defence and Commonwealth security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities of this role include:
* Preparing and conducting security training and awareness sessions to HCF Branch personnel.
* Providing informed security advice and recommendations to HCF Branch and Project stakeholders.
* Liaising with internal and external security representatives/stakeholders to assure security outcomes and communicate requirements for the HCF Project.
* Collate, research and assess protective security issues to produce detailed security reports, submissions and briefings.
* Accountable for leading APS personnel, managing work tasking’s, setting work area priorities and developing APS personnel as part of the HCF Security team.
* As required, represent the HCF Security directorate at Project working groups, forums and presentations.

The Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) will be one of the most advanced warships in the world with cutting edge technology and capabilities. As Australia’s largest shipbuilding project, HCF provides the foundation for Continuous Naval Shipbuilding in Australia. We are working with experts from the UK, USA, Canada and Europe to provide six frigates optimised for anti-submarine warfare to the Royal Australian Navy.
The frigates are being constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia utilising the latest production technologies. Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate is an experienced security practitioner with strong knowledge, and demonstrated experience, coordinating security operations and governance activities in accordance with Australian Government security frameworks.
You will bring experience in security operations, providing protective security advice and developing security practices/polices/plans in accordance with security frameworks. This includes the Australian Government’s Protective Security Principles Framework (PSPF) and experience developing protective security policies or procedures based on security frameworks.
You will have demonstrated experience performing the duties of a Security Officer, be familiar with the administrative requirements of the Security Officer role and have experience in personnel security management. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, experience in stakeholder engagement and be able to communicate complex security advice in a clear and executable manner.
Comfortable operating in an environment with conflicting priorities and ensuring alignment on security outcomes/requirements across a broad range of stakeholders.
