Job Overview:
Caring Humanity Pty Ltd, located in Richardson, ACT, is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our growing care team in Richardson, ACT. We are a trusted provider of in-home and community-based support services, committed to enhancing the quality of life for people living with disabilities, serving since 2019 across ACT.

This role involves supporting clients with daily personal care, mobility, meal preparation, household tasks, social interaction, and community participation. You will play a vital role in maintaining the comfort, dignity, and well-being of our clients through respectful, person-centred care.

Responsibilities and Duties:
As a Disability Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

- Assisting clients with personal care tasks such as showering, toileting, grooming, and dressing in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Assisting NDIS participants with high intensity/complex support needs and also behaviour support plan implementation to assist clients with behaviours of concern.
- Supporting clients with safe mobility, including walking, transferring from bed or chairs, and using mobility aids.
- Preparing and serving nutritious meals, tailored to each client’s dietary requirements and preferences, and assisting with feeding if necessary.
- Performing general housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, laundry, and dishwashing to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Providing companionship, emotional support, and meaningful conversation to reduce loneliness and improve mental wellbeing.
- Accompanying clients to medical appointments, grocery shopping, or social outings, encouraging active community participation.
- Running errands such as picking up prescriptions and groceries to support independent living.
- Monitoring clients' physical and emotional health, reporting any changes or concerns to family members or healthcare providers.
- Offering 24/7 support when required, being available to assist clients.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Certificate III in Individual Support or higher in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, or a related qualification.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a similar care or support worker role is required.
- A genuine passion for caring for others with patience, empathy, and a respectful attitude.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and organised, with strong attention to detail.
- A current and valid driver’s licence is preferred.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Working with vulnerable people, check required.

Position Details

Type: Full-time

Hours: 38 hours per week
