Our Senior Security Officers assist to ensure a safe and secure travel environment compliant with our security plans and broader security program.
You will work on-board as part of a two person team to provide an overt response capability onboard the ship, and conduct pre boarding clearance of passengers, items, vehicles and freight.
Your key accountabilities will include:
* fulfilling the role of a Maritime Security Guard;
* ensuring security compliance and quality assurance of security measures;
* alignment of security processes with operational processes to ensure a seamless ‘in-port’ transition;
* understanding the requirements of the ISPS code, Ship Security Plan, and the Security Operations Manual;
* acting as the security response capability onboard the ship, including prompt detection, resolution and reporting of suspicious or potentially suspicious activity to mitigate acts of terrorism or otherwise unlawful incidents or unsafe/inappropriate behaviour;
* evaluate incidents and advise and coordinate internal and external security or other law enforcement responses to an incident in consultation with the Chief Officer;
* assuming lead responsibility for the restraining and/or detaining of any person who presents a danger to themselves, others or the ship or its’ equipment;
* at the direction of the Master perform all necessary emergency response or evacuation duties; providing leadership and direction to Ferry Security Officers, contract security guards, or the ship’s crew who may assist in a security related incident;
* ensure all security equipment is present and maintained in good working order, and the Brig is maintained and in good working order at all times;
* participating in security drills and exercises; and
* providing feedback for the development and maintenance of security related doctrine.
Requirements, Qualifications & Experience
* Must hold both a Tasmanian and Victorian security licence, or be able to obtain such.
* A Certificate II in Security Operations.
* Must hold or be able to obtain an AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness.
* Must hold or be willing to undertake training to obtain a Certificate of Sea Safety training.
* Experience in maritime or aviation security will be highly regarded.
* Experience in crowd control.
* Knowledge of regulated security environments is desirable.
