We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our team and take ownership of end-to-end weekly payroll processing. This is a key role responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining full compliance with Australian payroll legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Process end-to-end weekly payroll for approximately 400+ employees, including casual and permanent staff
* Prepare and process weekly statutory payments, including:
* PAYG / Group Tax
* Payroll Tax
* Superannuation
* WorkCover
* Long Service Leave
* Garnishees
* Calculate and process termination payments, salary reviews, and bonus payments
* Manage payroll-related adjustments including back pays, WorkCover, and taxation requirements
* Manage and administer WorkCover claims
* Complete month-end payroll activities, reconciliations, and reporting
* Prepare weekly payroll reports for Profit & Loss reporting
* Maintain accurate payroll and personnel records in line with statutory and internal requirements
* Respond to employee payroll enquiries in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
* Ensure ongoing compliance with Fair Work legislation, payroll regulations, and company policies
* Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency
* Contribute to payroll-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
* Minimum 3-4 years' experience in end-to-end weekly payroll processing (in-house)
* Experience using payroll systems (Greentree MYOB highly regarded)
* Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including:
* PAYG, Payroll Tax, and Superannuation
* Workers' Compensation
* FBT
* Termination payments
* STP reporting
* Familiarity with Road and Transport Awards (preferred)
* Experience working in a large and complex organisation
* Ability to work under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines
* High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Professional, discreet, and trusted to handle confidential information
* Collaborative team player who builds positive working relationships across the business
* Strong system and computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new platforms
