Job Description
Acciona Rail has a strong presence throughout Australia supporting and supplying the country's rail infrastructure. We provide construction services for major rail and transport infrastructure projects Australia-wide. The Minor Works team are instrumental in looking after maintenance works from upgrading track and bridges to installing concrete walls and modernizing train stations and platforms.
We're looking for a Safety Trainee to join the Minor Works Rail team. Based out of Port Melbourne, the role requires regional travel and night‐shift work. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with various scopes, ensuring you become a highly multi‐disciplined Safety Professional.

Opportunity
* Reporting to the Rail Safety Manager for Acciona Rail, the Rail Safety Trainee is responsible for providing support to the Safety and Project teams, including the Company's wider Safety team as required. This role ensures that operations are carried out safely and with consideration of environmental protection.
* This role also requires the successful candidate to promote a positive culture of safety and environmental awareness to all site workers.
* Assist in the reporting, incident investigation and suggestion of corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near‐miss incidents and work‐related illness/injury.
* Assist and support the Safety team and project delivery team with preparation of safety information for client and/or stakeholder meetings.
* Assist in conducting Safety training, awareness and information sessions to site personnel.
* Prepare reports, SWMS and all other communication.
* Perform regular site safety inspections and audits of project and subcontract activities.
* Support Superintendents, Supervisors and Site Workers to eliminate or minimize hazards.
* Review on‐site work practice, material conditions, plant and equipment to identify OSHE hazards.
* Provide general administrative support: monitor correspondence, assist in preparation of responses and materials, arrange and manage meetings and attendance requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
* To be eligible you must NOT have completed any Certificate IV or above training qualifications.
* Ability to undertake Certificate in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419).
* Ability to undertake Construction Induction Training and Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card.
* Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
* Effective interpersonal skills, enabling you to maintain effective communication with all levels of organisation and across teams.
* Organise with good time management and planning abilities, setting priorities within time constraints and managing conflicting demands.
* Current Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle.
