We are seeking to establish a pool of Teachers - Education Support for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

The School

Fremantle Language Development Centre (FLDC) is an Independent Public School that provides high quality specialist education for Kindergarten to Year 3 students who have a significant primary language disorder or diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and meet the school's eligibility criteria. FLDC consists of a school and a state-wide Outreach service and provide targeted, intensive language and academic intervention in a supportive environment that focuses on the social, emotional and academic growth of students.

The school is located across three sites where facilities are shared with local primary schools, enabling children from the FLDC to benefit from interaction and inclusion with mainstream students. The main site is co-located at Caralee Community School with the additional sites co-located at Beeliar Primary School and Bull Creek Primary School.

The Role

As a teacher at the FLDC, you will work as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that includes speech and language officers/ specialists and education assistants. Together, you will develop and deliver high-quality, evidence-based programs aligned to the Western Australian Curriculum, with a strong focus on supporting students with language learning difficulties.

You should be committed to developing, specialist knowledge in language development and its impact on students' academic achievement, communication, and social-emotional wellbeing. Your teaching should reflect a deep understanding of effective, evidence-based instructional practices grounded in cognitive science. This includes aligning your practice with the school's whole-school instructional model and incorporating high-impact teaching strategies such as explicit instruction, gradual release of responsibility, and scaffolded learning.

The ability to differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of students is important, as is creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment. Experience with evidence-based programs such as InitiaLit and Talk for Writing is desirable.

Strong classroom management and a proactive, positive approach to behaviour support are important for engaging students and fostering a safe, inclusive learning space.

The ability to collaborate effectively with mainstream staff at our co-located campuses is important for providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Building strong professional relationships and sharing expertise helps ensure continuity of support and reinforces our shared commitment to student success.

Suitable applicants should have a collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to whole-school initiatives and practices. They will ideally be reflective, adaptable, and enthusiastic educators who actively participate in ongoing professional learning to stay informed of current research and best practice in the field of language development and instruction.
