The College
St Stanislaus’ College Bathurst is the only Vincentian College in Australia and is the oldest continuing Catholic boarding school in the country. The College was founded in 1867 and conducted since 1889 by the Congregation of the Mission's priests and brothers. It caters for nearly 700 students from Year 7 to Year 12, including approximately 120 boarders.
St Stanislaus' has a proud history of not only academic and sporting success but also in forming young men to make a positive difference in society especially amongst the poor. St Stanislaus' College is affiliated with the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia and is a member of the Association of Independent Schools of New South Wales.
Your Position
Academic Care Leaders (Heads of Department) are responsible for leading their appointed Faculty and directing teaching and learning within that Faculty. Academic Care Leaders work closely with the Deputy Head of College- Academic Care, to ensure that the College is compliant with its teaching and learning obligations as directed by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Key Responsibilities and Duties include (but are not limited to) an ability to:
* Promote educational excellence in all aspects of College life.
* Lead and manage a faculty and create a culture of inquiry that promotes student learning and holistic growth.
* Organise and coordinate the work of faculty staff in ways that lead to the best outcomes for students that meet the specific needs, enrichment, and learning styles of all students.
* Display passion, commitment, professionalism, and expertise to inspire students to be lifelong learners.
* Work with faculty staff and the Deputy Head of College- Academic Care, to ensure that academic reports completed by faculty staff are of a high quality.
* Work with faculty staff and other members of the College to ensure that all associated compliance requirements are completed to meet the standards of accrediting bodies.
* Foster a positive learning environment amongst staff members through links to professional bodies, development opportunities and access to capability building specific to, but not confined to, faculty matters.
* Other duties as directed by the Deputy Head of College- Academic Care, to meet emergent needs of the College.
Essential Criteria:
* Qualified teacher with current NESA accreditation and WWCC clearance (or, if currently interstate, eligibility to gain accreditation).
* A demonstrated understanding of contemporary approaches to teaching and learning.
* High level of IT literacy, written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with students, parents and staff.
* Ability to work independently, intuitively and flexibly.
