About the Opportunity The Integrated Product Support (IPS) Engineering Lead provides technical leadership of the shipbuilding IPS Engineering Team and serves as the principal advisor to the Product Support Manager (PSM) and Program Manager (PM) for IPS engineering disciplines - Design Interface, Sustaining Engineering, and Maintenance Planning and Management. The role is technically accountable to the Enterprise IPS Engineering Manager, ensuring rigorous integration across IPS Engineering elements so the Mission System is supportable, maintainable, testable, and cost effective through introduction into service and transition to sustainment. The IPS Engineering Lead directs the development and assurance of supportability requirements, RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) rationale; orchestrates multi-disciplinary engineering, logistics, and test teams; manages the development of maintenance procedures and assures their alignment to Operational and mission readiness requirements. The position provides technical oversight of acquisition deliverables, verification/validation activities, and the progressive maturation of product support data to inform LifeCycle Cost modelling and acceptance into operational service. Plan and govern IPS engineering across acquisition phases Direct maintenance concept and Maintenance Planning & Management Manage IPS Design Interface collaboration Oversee Sustaining Engineering planning for post Sustainment and In-Service Support Integrate IPS engineering with Test and Evaluation (T&E) Govern contractor IPS deliverables (ASDEFCON) Consolidate IPS inputs to the LifeCycle Cost (LCC) modelling and product support baseline You’ll Need Essentials Degree (AQF Level 7 or higher) in Systems Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, or closely related discipline; eligibility for professional membership/charter (e.g., Engineers Australia). Demonstrated experience leading IPS/ILS engineering on maritime/shipbuilding or other complex Defence program IPS/ILS program experience including Product/Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) to influence design and sustainment outcomes and inform Life Cycle Cost analysis Experience with ASDEFCON and CDRL for IPS/ILS deliverables, planning and reporting. Defence equipment/system acceptance and introduction into service, including participation in MSR and V&V processes Demonstrated capability to manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Desirable Postgraduate qualification (AQF Level 8/9) in Systems Engineering, Integrated Logistics Support/Product Support, or Asset Management PS/ILS Practitioner Certification/credentials eg. TLI41522 Certificate IV in Materiel Logistics. Experience with Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), HUMS integration, and digital sustainment data environments Experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) development technical data, LSA/LSAR, and integration to training and maintenance planning toolchains Experience with Life Cycle Cost Modelling and Analysis Why Join Us?
