Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Ensure adequacy of supplies at the cooking stations
• Prepare ingredients that should be frequently available (fresh or seasonal produce etc.)
• Strong attention to detail
• Follow the guidance of the head or sous chef and have input in new ways of presentation or dishes
• Collaborate with Head Chef on menu development and seasonal changes
• Manage kitchen operations in Head Chef's absence
• Put effort in optimizing the cooking process with attention to speed and quality
• Motivate, train, and mentor kitchen staff
• Follow strict health and hygiene standards
• Help to maintain a climate of smooth and friendly team environment
• Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Oversee stock ordering and control
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety polices and procedures, health regulations and safety standards
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes
Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices.
Teamwork-oriented with strong leadership abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
Knowledge of best cooking practices
Knowledge of Food Safety Standard and Practices.
