We are currently seeking a talented Animator to join our Melbourne team. In this role, you will collaborate with world‐class directors and supervisors to breathe life into extraordinary characters and creatures, ensuring every frame contributes to a compelling, story‐driven narrative.

The Role & Responsibilities
As an Animator at Framestore, your primary objective is to produce high‐quality keyframe animation that aligns with the specific style, pacing, and emotional weight of a production. You will be expected to:
* Character Artistry: Create nuanced performances for both primary and secondary characters, ranging from photorealistic creatures to stylized humans.
* Technical Execution: Demonstrate a profound understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, and form. You will work within complex rigging setups and navigate our proprietary animation pipelines.
* Collaborative Iteration: Actively participate in dailies and reviews. You must be able to ingest constructive feedback from Leads and Supervisors, pivoting quickly to meet the creative vision of the Director.
* Production Management: Maintain ongoing communication with the Production team regarding progress, ensuring all assigned shots are delivered within strict deadlines without compromising quality.
* Interdisciplinary Support: Work closely with the Rigging and Pipeline departments to troubleshoot asset issues and improve the efficiency of the animation workflow.
We are looking for artists who combine technical proficiency with a "filmmaker's eye." While we value specific software skills, we prioritize your ability to tell a story through movement.
Core Requirements
* Software Mastery: Expert‐level knowledge of Autodesk Maya.
* Foundational Knowledge: A deep‐seeded understanding of the 12 principles of animation, specifically as they apply to weight, physics, and timing in a VFX context.
* Professionalism: Proven ability to work under the high‐pressure environment of a major film studio while maintaining excellent organization and timekeeping.
* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills; you should be able to articulate your creative choices and collaborate effectively within a large, diverse team.
Preferred "Bonus" Skills
* Technical Artistry: Knowledge of Mel/Python scripting or experience with rigging and modeling.
* Artistic Foundation: A background in traditional 2D animation, life drawing, or fine arts.
* Anatomy: A strong grasp of human and animal musculoskeletal systems to enhance the realism of creature performances.
