* Salary ranges from $129,464 to $142,6665 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

The Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in leading a high-volume team through process transformations, system enhancement and organisational change to deliver accurate, compliant and effective payroll service delivery.

Your responsibilities:

* Lead day-to-day payroll operations and ensuring timely service delivery
* Provide guidance on complex matters such as overpayments and recoveries
* Develop and implement process improvements that's efficient and maintain high customer satisfaction
* Effective stakeholder engagement across all levels
* Build team capability through innovative people management, coaching and adoption of new tools and processes.
* Monitor performance, identify risk and implement mitigation strategies

About you

As the Assistant Manager, you are a trusted and forward-thinking leader with strong operational expertise in managing high-volume, critical payroll services and leading high-performing teams within a large complex organisation. You will also have:

* Strong understanding of payroll legislation and industrial award with ability to interpret and apply complex employment conditions accurately
* Proven experience leading teams through change and reforms
* Demonstrated strategic partnership with various internal and external stakeholders to align and strengthen governance and enhance service delivery

Key Knowledge and Experience

* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

* Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or Business Administration or a relevant discipline, or demonstrated successful experience in stakeholder/customer engagement in a Shared Services/Payroll environment.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
