About The Role 
The Senior Engineer Parking Technology & Contracts sits within the Parking Services branch of the Community and City Services Division and offers an exciting opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in a local government environment. 
This role is central to managing high-value service contracts, overseeing complex on-street parking technologies, and ensuring the efficient collection of the City of Melbourne’s annual parking revenue. 
Working as part of the Parking Technology & Contracts team, you’ll draw on your experience in contract management, budget forecasting and monitoring, and municipal asset management. You will also help deliver innovative engineering and technology solutions that keep Melbourne’s parking systems efficient, reliable, and future-ready. 
A Little More About The Role 
- Manage the delivery and performance of high-value parking contracts, ensuring services meet agreed KPIs and Council requirements 
- Oversee on-street parking technology and assets including meters, sensors, signage, and control devices 
- Lead engineering projects for asset renewal, system upgrades and revenue optimisation, ensuring operational efficiency and community benefit 
- Provide input into budget forecasting, monitoring and reporting for parking revenue and expenditure

About You 
You are a qualified engineer with proven experience in local government operations, contract management and budget oversight. You thrive in environments where technical expertise, sound judgement, and strong stakeholder engagement are required to achieve high-quality community outcomes. 
You May Also Be 
- Experienced in parking operations or municipal service delivery 
- Skilled at translating engineering and technical detail into community-focused outcomes 
What your experience might look like - Key Selection Criteria 
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (or equivalent) with strong knowledge of parking operations, technology and municipal infrastructure 
- Demonstrated experience managing complex municipal contracts, budgets, and assets 
- Strong project management skills with ability to deliver upgrades, renewals and service improvements 
- High-level written and verbal communication skills with experience in stakeholder engagement 
- Ability to identify, assess and implement cutting-edge, technology-driven engineering solutions in a local government setting
