This is an exciting and rare opportunity to come and experience a management role within an enthusiastic and dynamic department within Liverpool Hospital.
The Paediatric Ward at Liverpool Hospital is a fast-paced, specialty unit managing children with a wide variety of medical and surgical needs. The unit works extremely closely with medical team and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide collaborative and family centred care that meets the needs of the community.
The NUM of the Paediatric Ward is responsible for the day to day running and patient flow within the unit as well as the management of the human and financial resources.

* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise safely in a fast paced surgical environment
* Effective communication and active listening skills to engage patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team
* A collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor, motivate and manage staff performance
* Sound clinical expertise and critical thinking to guide evidence based practice
* A commitment to quality improvement, work health and safety, and risk management
* The ability to adapt, learn and apply new knowledge in a dynamic and evolving service

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
* Demonstrated nursing leadership with experience in managing staff and services in a relevant setting.
* Can you describe a time you led a team through a challenging clinical period or operational change? How did you support staff, maintain care standards and manage performance issues if they arose?
* Tell us about a complex patient care situation where your clinical judgement directly impacted the outcome. How did you use evidence based practice to guide your decisions?
