The Sport and Recreational Officer (SRPO) employed by The Corporation will provide a safe and supportive environment to young people and assist with their daily care needs whilst in placement. The SPRO will be required to plan, coordinate & supervise activities that use sport & recreation to achieve personal milestones as well as build positive experiences with their Family, extended Kin, Peers in community and strengthening their culture and identity.
The position will primarily be working with First Nation children and young people, as well as those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, so the ability to communicate effectively and engage individuals from a strength-based model of care will be important.

The Corporation is seeking individuals who have proven history and ability working with First Nations children, young people and their families within a community setting. The Corporation seeks to appoint people to fill the role of the Residential Youth Worker position that have a strong understanding of the circumstances that may see children and young people in placement, and the bigger picture issues in their homes and communities' they originate from that impact their lives.
As a highly skilled professional you will be able to clearly demonstrate the depth of knowledge and experience in community service/youth work especially as it relates to working closely with those children and young people in contact with the child protection and youth justice system to drive positive change and be positive role models for their peers and take an active role in keeping community safe.
