Join the Peach Tree Team in Brisbane & Make a Real Difference in the Lives of Parents
Permanent | Part-Time | Nundah & Mt Gravatt
Peach Tree is entering an exciting period of growth and building teams in new sites across Queensland! We’re looking for perinatal mental health lived experience (peer) workers to support parents, partners and families during the pregnancy and early parenthood at our Brisbane Centres (Nundah and Mount Gravatt).
As a Peer Support Worker, you’ll have a unique opportunity to work with expecting/parents and families through the challenging and often isolating period of pregnancy and early parenthood. You’ll facilitate group programs, offering trauma-informed support in a non-judgmental and child friendly space where parents can feel heard, understood and find important information and help to focus on their health and wellbeing.
Hours & Remuneration
This is a permanent part-time opportunity with an hourly rate of $34.58 + superannuation. We also offer salary sacrificing. We know flexibility matters, and we offer part-time roles with the option to tailor hours during the Monday-Thursday work week to suit your lifestyle and commitments. There may occasionally be evening or Saturday work, but this will be the exception rather than the rule.
Why This Role is Unique
* Lived Experience Matters: At Peach Tree, lived experience is not just valued, it shapes everything we do. Your lived experience will be applied in a professional capacity to support others.
* Flexibility & Support: We understand the needs of parents. This role offers flexible, part-time hours, with occasional evening or weekend shifts. Peach Tree offers training and professional development opportunities, as well as salary sacrificing.
What You’ll Do
* Facilitate specialised groups and programs focusing on mental health and wellbeing and parenting.
* Welcome people into our service with warmth and offer empathy and kindness, ensuring our community members feel respected and included.
* Create empowering environments for expecting/parents to navigate their own healing journey, providing information and offering supportive pathways for healing.
* Demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality with people’s stories, experiences and personal information.
* Discuss information and services that are available for parents and work with the team to reduce barriers to service engagement.
* Keep accurate records of service data and complete administrative tasks as required.
What We’re Looking For
* Lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges, accompanied with service use experiences and personal healing
* Training in Trauma-Informed Care or Peer Support is highly desirable. However, a strong commitment to learning and engaging in training and mentorship is essential.
* Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills
* A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to approach challenges with initiative and resolve problems with courage and conviction.
* Optimism and encouraging to those around them, contributing to positive workplace culture
* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) (or willingness to obtain) and Whooping Cough vaccinations
