The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our reputable firm's tax and accounting team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to lead client portfolios, oversee technical compliance, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the enhancement of internal processes. If you're a detail-oriented professional with a strong grasp of Australian tax law and accounting standards, this is your chance to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a diverse client portfolio, including individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships
* Act as the primary contact, building and maintaining strong client relationships
* Provide high-quality advice on business structuring, tax planning, and compliance
* Review financial statements, tax returns, BAS, and lodgements for accuracy and compliance
* Ensure all client work aligns with current Australian tax laws and standards
* Lead and mentor junior accountants, providing coaching and technical guidance
* Assist in workflow planning to meet deadlines and client expectations
* Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery
* Contribute to internal training and staff development initiatives
* Support compliance efforts and manage ATO correspondence and audits
Requirements:
* CA/CPA qualified or currently studing with expertise in Australian taxation law and accounting principles
* Proven experience managing client portfolios in a professional environment
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with strong attention to detail
* Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero and MYOB
* Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to team development
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and tools
