We are seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead our team in the timber and hardware industry. As a Store Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing sales, logistics, customer relationships, and team development.
Main Responsibilities:
* Customer Service:
o Build long-term relationships with customers.
o Solve problems when orders are late, damaged, or short.
o Negotiate with suppliers.
o Lead by example with outstanding customer service.
* Operations:
o Manage stock control and inventory.
o Prioritise delivery schedules using utilities, trucks, forklifts, and cranes.
* Safety & Compliance:
o Enforce safety standards across yards, warehouses, and transport.
o Train staff in manual handling, load restraint, and safe machinery use.
o Ensure compliance with regulations.
* Financial Management:
o Monitor margins and profitability.
o Manage trade credit accounts and payment terms.
o Control costs in logistics, freight, and staffing.
* Leadership & Team Development:
o Lead and mentor yard staff, drivers, and sales reps.
o Train and motivate teams to deliver safely, accurately, and efficiently.
* Problem Solving:
o Handle supply chain disruptions (shortages, imports, weather delays).
o Reorganise schedules quickly when deliveries are delayed.
