This project and others are running for four years across multiple clinical trial sites, in Queensland and elsewhere.
Unit Profile
Improving the safety of children in hospital, by targeting the reduction of hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) is a national (Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in Healthcare) and global (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality; World Health Organization) priority area.
The Paediatric Nursing and Patient Safety Group research program works with the Vascular Access Management Service and other CHQ groups to eliminate healthcare-associated injuries, such as central line-associated bloodstream infection, thrombosis, extravasation injuries and medication error for children. We are achieving this aim by informing everyday clinical practices with innovation and high-quality research trial data, then sustainably and effectively implementing evidence-based care into practice across Australian and international paediatric healthcare.
