Primary Care Nurse
Cairns is a vibrant city with opportunities to improve the standard of health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through provision of culturally valid, holistic primary healthcare services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with clinical staff to provide high-quality care to clients attending our clinics. This includes identifying and assessing urgent needs, providing therapeutic care and treatment, and managing chronic diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide registered nurse level care to clients.
* Triage clients via telephone, front desk, or treatment room.
* Assess and manage urgent client needs, including emergency treatment.
* Therapeutic care and treatment, wound management, and venipunctures.
* Manage clinical data, provide home visiting support, and advocate for clients.
* Supervise the clinical practice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Deliver evidence-based clinical and primary healthcare, with an understanding of community-controlled primary healthcare.
* Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures, with ability to communicate effectively and sensitively.
* History of providing high levels of care to all clients, ensuring accurate recording of their health needs.
* Extensively developed interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to liaise with stakeholders and advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
