The opportunity
EY Forensic & Integrity Services professionals help organisations protect and restore enterprise and financial reputation. We assist organisations with investigations, disputes, regulatory challenges and the integration of data analytics to improve compliance and investigative outcomes.
As a Consultant or Senior Consultant in the Forensic Data Analytics team, you will work across all areas of Forensics including anti‑money laundering, corruption, fraud and other investigations, commercial disputes, business integrity assignments, transaction disputes, fraud prevention and compliance programme development.
Our practice is a global, data‑focused team within the Forensic & Integrity Services department that manages the full life cycle of data analysis—from discovery to capture, management, analysis and reporting. We work with large, disparate data sets to support investigations, disputes and proactive risk detection in a variety of industries.
The role is based in Boorloo–Perth or Meanjin–Brisbane. Flexible hours may be available upon discussion.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Use market‑leading advanced data analytic tools to generate insights that support fraud investigations, disputes and regulatory compliance challenges across industries.
* Collaborate with the broader Forensics team and stakeholders to develop forensic procedures, define measurable data metrics and design investigative analyses.
* Extract, validate, transform and load high‑volume structured and unstructured data from multiple data sources (including ERP and accounting systems) for deeper analysis.
* Develop algorithms, data mining and analytic solutions to assist clients with detecting fraud, bribery, corruption, irregular financial transactions and anomalous employee behaviour, and to target error and waste in operations.
* Support senior team members in preparing and presenting client deliverables, using visualisation software to communicate analytical benefits clearly.
* Act in multi‑disciplinary teams to transform and improve clients' businesses through analytics.
Skill and attributes for success
* Communicate technical information in non‑technical language and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
* Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to present data, conclusions and recommendations clearly.
* Proficiency in data manipulation languages such as SQL and statistical techniques (regression, clustering, etc.) and tools such as Alteryx, Python, R or similar.
* Ability to hypothesise, analyse and draw conclusions from financial and operational data.
Ideally, you'll have the skills below but we welcome talent that shows aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn:
* Academic or professional experience in a relevant technical field (Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Commerce, Mathematics).
* Familiarity with data visualisation software such as Power BI (preferred) or Tableau.
* Understanding of Azure/AWS cloud platforms, relational database systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) and enterprise software solutions.
* Knowledge of algorithms (machine learning, pattern recognition, NLP) and big‑data technologies such as Spark, Elasticsearch, Hadoop.
* Working knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting processes.
