The Role
Due to growth of our National Public Law team, we are offering opportunities for lawyers with between 1-8 years' PQE to work alongside senior practitioners who are highly regarded in the field. The role focuses on disability-related merits review and administrative appeals work. You will act for a key government client in the review of decisions affecting people with disability, including matters involving eligibility, supports, funding, and broader administrative frameworks. The work is predominantly merits review before the Administrative Review Tribunal, with opportunities to contribute to advisory work, litigation strategy, and improvements in administrative decision‐making.
Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
* Manage a busy caseload of disability‐related merits review matters
* Prepare high‐quality submissions, evidence summaries, and case strategies
* Conduct tribunal appearances, conferences, and negotiations
* Provide clear, well‐reasoned advice to government decision‐makers
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, counsel, and government stakeholders
* Support continuous improvement in administrative law processes and legal risk management
Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
* Between 1-8 years' PQE with experience or interest in disability merits review, administrative law, or tribunal advocacy
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply complex legislative frameworks
* Excellent written advocacy and confident oral advocacy
* Sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to manage sensitive mattersA commitment to fairness, procedural integrity, and high‐quality public administration
