As a Senior Instructor at the Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre, you’ll play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering advanced synthetic warfare training for the Royal Australian Navy. Working closely with the OIC NSWC and Warfare Training Manager, you’ll lead the planning, preparation and execution of complex training activities that strengthen operational readiness. You’ll collaborate with Defence stakeholders and instructor teams to ensure high-quality, mission-ready outcomes while driving continuous improvement in training effectiveness.
As a Senior Instructor in the Navigation and Synthetic Warfare Training team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
Leading design and delivery of complex synthetic warfare exercisesManaging simulator databases, scenario development and threat modellingCoordinating planning activities with ADF and coalition stakeholdersMentoring and assessing instructors and warfare practitionersFacilitating execution, debrief and continuous improvement processesSupporting Task Group Headquarters functions including N3 activities

You Could Be a Great Fit If You Have
Minimum 10 years’ experience with Naval Combat Management SystemsProven experience leading large-force or complex Defence exercisesDeep understanding of ADF operations and RAN doctrineExperience operating across multiple warfare domainsStrong leadership capability with experience managing teamsBe able to achieve and maintain a defence security clearance of NV2 or higherWillingness to obtain Certificate IV in Training and AssessmentYou’ll bring practical experience in senior warfare roles such as Principal Warfare Officer, Air Battlespace Manager, ASW Warfare Officer, Task Force staff roles or similar operational appointments.
