Overview

Community Corrections Officer (Talent Pool Creation) – Sydney Metro District Community Corrections, Corrective Services NSW.

Employment type: Talent Pool Creation - A talent pool will be created for future ongoing and temporary roles within metro Sydney and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.

Salary: $99,938 - $110,271 pa, plus super and leave loading (Clerk Grade 5/6).

Locations: Bankstown, Blacktown, Burwood, Campbelltown, City (Darlinghurst), Fairfield, Hornsby, Leichhardt, Liverpool, Long Bay (Malabar), Mount Druitt, Parklea, Parramatta, Penrith, Silverwater, St Leonards, Sutherland, Windsor.


Your role

As a Community Corrections Officer, you will join a dedicated and dynamic team focused on offender rehabilitation and enhancing community safety. In this role, you will collaborate with individuals under supervision to develop and implement rehabilitative strategies, monitor progress toward established goals, and conduct home visits to ensure compliance with conditions.

What you'll do

Community Corrections Officers are trained to manage cases for individuals serving community-based orders, including Parole Orders, Intensive Corrections Orders, and Community Corrections Orders. In some locations, officers also work with offenders in custody to prepare them for reintegration upon release on parole. This role offers extensive training opportunities and pathways for career advancement.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a mandatory four-week, in-person, paid training program at Corrective Services Brush Farm Academy, a key component of the Certificate IV in Correctional Practice curriculum.

* Understanding of the NSW criminal justice system, skills in case management and an understanding of the needs of Aboriginal people and their communities.
* Commitment to providing support and strengthening relationships between Community Corrections and local service providers as well as the local Aboriginal community, to sustain better service delivery and outcomes for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
* Upholding our values and behaviours with a strong focus on community safety.
* Dedication to fostering positive relationships between Communities and Justice, with emphasis on supporting local Aboriginal and CALD communities.
* Exceptional communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in all interactions.
* Experience in case management, along with high resilience, integrity, and a proactive, positive attitude.
* Ability to work from an office to interact face to face with people under supervision.
* Ability to thrive in a challenging environment while applying cultural sensitivity and awareness.
* Ability to develop and implement effective strategies while demonstrating decisiveness in managing emotionally charged situations and addressing complex or controversial issues.
