About us

We are a growing, specialist cardiology clinic in Townsville providing comprehensive care for patients with coronary disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and cardiometabolic risk. We are now expanding our services to include on‐site Exercise Physiology and Dietetics to deliver integrated, evidence‐based cardiac rehabilitation and prevention.

The opportunity

We are seeking:

* An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), and
* An Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD)

to join our team on a part‐time basis. You will work closely with the cardiologist and local GPs to provide high‐quality, one‐on‐one consultations for patients with established cardiovascular disease and cardiometabolic risk factors, primarily under Medicare chronic condition plans and on a private-billing basis. READY TO USE CONSULTATION ROOMS, INCLUDING RECEPTION SERVICES WITH A LONG WAITLIST OF DESERVING PATIENTS, HASSLE-FREE BOOKINGS, REFERRALS, AND MANY MORE ADVANTAGES.

Remuneration is a generous 60% of billings, with existing referral streams and strong potential to build a stable, cardiac‐focused caseload.

Key responsibilities

Exercise Physiologist

* Provide individual, clinic‐based cardiac and chronic disease exercise consultations
* Conduct functional and risk assessments and develop safe, progressive exercise plans for post‐MI, PCI/CABG, heart failure and high‐risk prevention patients.
* Deliver education on physical activity, behaviour change and self‐management.
* Communicate clearly with the cardiologist and referring GPs through concise reports and care‐plan feedback.

Dietitian

* Provide individual nutrition consultations for patients with coronary disease, heart failure, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obesity and diabetes.
* Develop practical, sustainable meal plans (e.g. Mediterranean‐style, sodium restriction, weight and glycaemic management) tailored to cardiac patients.
* Deliver nutrition education around lipids, weight, BP, HF and cardiometabolic risk.
* Liaise with the cardiologist and GPs with timely written reports and updates.

About you

Essential – Exercise Physiologist

* Tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology.
* Current accreditation with ESSA as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
* Eligibility to register for a Medicare provider number and relevant funders.
* Experience or strong interest in cardiovascular and chronic disease management.

Essential – Dietitian

* Tertiary qualification in Dietetics.
* Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status with Dietitians Australia.
* Eligibility to register for a Medicare provider number.
* Experience or strong interest in cardiovascular and metabolic nutrition.

For both roles

* A patient‐centred, evidence‐based approach.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a medical team.
* Strong professional standards and commitment to quality care.
Remuneration
* Contractor arrangement with 60% of billings.
* Days and hours negotiable (initially 1–2 sessions per week with capacity to grow).

The opportunity

We are seeking:

* An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), and

to join our team on a part‐time basis at Pulse Cardiac Care. You will work closely with Dr Ponangi and local GPs to deliver clinic‐based, one‐on‐one consultations for complex cardiac and geriatric patients, primarily under Medicare chronic condition plans and private billing.

This is an ideal role for clinicians who want to focus on cardiac and cardiometabolic medicine in a highly reputable specialist setting, without needing a gym‐style space or extensive equipment (consultation‐room model).

Remuneration is a generous 60% of billings, with strong existing demand and referral streams.

Key responsibilities

Exercise Physiologist

* Provide evidence‐based, individual exercise consultations for patients post‐MI, heart failure, post‐CABG, post‐PCI/stenting and with complex arrhythmias.
* Conduct clinical history and functional assessments and design safe, home‐based and low‐equipment exercise programs suitable for older and multi‐morbid patients.
* Educate patients on physical activity, behaviour change, risk factor modification and self‐management.
* Communicate clearly with the cardiologist and referring GPs through concise reports and care‐plan feedback.

Dietitian

* Deliver individual nutrition consultations for patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obesity, diabetes and frailty.
* Develop practical, sustainable meal plans (e.g. Mediterranean‐style, sodium and fluid management in HF, weight and glycaemic control) tailored to older and complex patients.
* Provide patient‐centred education to support long‐term lifestyle change and medication adherence.
* Provide timely written feedback to Dr Ponangi and GPs as part of holistic, team‐based care.
