We’re seeking a highly motivated and reliable Lab Technician to join our dynamic engineering and product development team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in testing, improving, and supporting the development of our product range — both current and new. This role suits someone who is self-driven, quick to understand tasks, and highly efficient in executing work with attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
* New Product Testing: Execute structured and repeatable testing processes for new product development, ensuring reliable, consistent, and accurate test outcomes that support engineering decisions.
* Batch Testing: Perform batch tests on existing products to verify ongoing product consistency, compliance, and quality standards.
* Competitor Analysis: Conduct competitive product testing to generate comparative performance data, identify product advantages or gaps, and inform strategic product development.
* Mechanical & Installation Testing: Carry out mechanical and installation-based testing on products as required, including setup, failure testing, and real-world performance evaluation in our workshop or warehouse areas.
* Equipment Calibration & Tracking: Perform routine calibration of laboratory equipment and maintain accurate calibration records to ensure equipment remains within required tolerances.
* Fixture & Test Jig Setup: Develop and assemble appropriate test jigs, fixtures, and mounting setups for each product-under-test, requiring strong mechanical aptitude and careful attention to proper setup and alignment.
* Equipment Improvements: Perform minor modifications and improvements to lab equipment and test rigs to enhance testing accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
* Lab Maintenance: Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and functionality, ensuring all tools, fixtures, and equipment are in optimal working condition.
Requirements
* A diploma or degree in engineering, electronics, mechanical, or a related technical field is preferred.
* Prior experience in a product testing or lab environment is highly desirable. Safety around high voltage equipment is our top priority.
* Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to safely build and modify custom jigs and fixtures.
* Comfortable using tools and assembly equipment to prepare test articles.
* Ability to read and understand technical documentation, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
* Experience with data recording, reporting, and analysis, including Excel-based reporting.
