Job Description:

* The successful candidate will provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Anatomical Pathology, participating in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
* They will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encourage an academic environment that supports research and development.
* The primary duties of this role include performing perinatal autopsies as well as reporting surgical specimens from paediatric patients.
* Perinatal autopsies will include fetuses, stillborn infants and neonates with their placentas, providing accurate and detailed reports with insight into potential causes of complications during pregnancy and/or birth.
* Paediatric surgical specimens include but are not limited to neoplasm, infection, inflammatory and genetic disorders.
* The successful candidate will also participate in some adult pathology specialties such as GIT, breast and non-melanoma skin.
* They will collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, neonatologists, paediatric teams including surgical, medical and oncology to provide comprehensive diagnostic support.
* Participating in educational, training and quality assurance programs and activities is also required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Anatomical Pathology, and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
* Demonstrated commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
* Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication, interpersonal skills and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Demonstrated personal qualities including effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
* Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management, continuous improvement and a contemporary knowledge of National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) Standards and NATA accreditation processes.
* Demonstrated contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise within the specialty of Anatomical Pathology.
* Demonstrated experience and/or satisfactory and proven training in Perinatal and Paediatric specialties.
