About the Role
The Junior Integration Lawyer will support the merger by directly delivering legal and governance work under the guidance of the Senior Banking Lawyer. The role is responsible for ensuring all legal and governance actions required for merger completion and post‐completion operations are appropriately drafted, legally effective, accurately documented, and fully implemented.
This is a 9‐month fixed‐term appointment aligned to the merger completion phase and the immediate post‐completion integration period.
Responsibilities
* Drafting and issuing regulatory notices, confirmations and filings (e.g. ASIC, APRA and other regulators), under supervision.
* Maintaining and updating legal registers and records, including Director, accountable person and governance registers.
* Supporting implementation of regulatory accountability frameworks (e.g. FAR), including statements, maps and filings.
* Assisting with member‐related legal impacts, supplier and counterparty legal notices, and post‐completion housekeeping.
* Supporting post‐completion legal clean‐up, including licences, memberships, statutory filings and deregistration steps for legacy entities.
* Prepare drafts and supporting materials for statutory and regulatory lodgements.
* Assist with interpretation and application of merger‐related regulatory requirements.
* Compile documentary evidence of completion for audit and regulatory purposes.
* Assist with responding to regulator queries under supervision.
* Work through integration task lists and checklists to ensure legal items are completed, not just tracked.
* Draft legal documents and correspondence required to close out agreed actions.
* Escalate legal issues, gaps or risks promptly to the Senior Banking Lawyer.
What Success Looks Like
* Legal and governance integration tasks are personally completed and closed, not merely coordinated.
* Core governance documents, delegations, registers and approvals are legally effective and current.
* Regulatory obligations arising from the merger are properly discharged and evidenced.
* BAU teams have clean, accurate legal documentation to operate the merged bank.
* All work is clearly documented and handed over.
