The Opportunity
The Commodity Supply Chain Specialist plays a key role in supporting the growth of recycling and resource recovery through the effective coordination of commodity production and logistics across domestic and export markets. In a dynamic, fast‐paced environment, this role is responsible for managing supply forecasts, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring the seamless execution of logistics against sales commitments. You will coordinate loading schedules within tight timeframes, manage competing supply chain priorities, and build strong, collaborative relationships with logistics providers and internal operational networks to deliver reliable, efficient and sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain effective, open relationships with internal teams and external customers, delivering a high standard of customer service.
* Coordinate all commodity production against external domestic & export sales, and internal flows to Cleanaway's processing facilities. Prepare, review, and manage customer contracts, including Purchase Orders, Indents, and Letters of Credit to initiate shipments.
* Review, monitor and progress customers contracts per agreed delivery conditions. Coordinate & prepare export shipping documentation and reconcile domestic logistics movements against collections/deliveries.
* Scrutinize Letters of Credit, Cash Against Documents checks, reconcile pre‐payment accounts and monitor agreed customer credit terms. Ensure commodity availability, pricing, logistical requirements and specific shipping instructions can be accommodated.
* Monitor and respond to changing logistical variables, e.g., road and sea costs for domestic and export sales to identify and reduce financial exposure.
* Confidently negotiate loading schedules and manage tight timelines whilst maintaining harmonious relationships with relevant logistics suppliers and Cleanaway Business Units.
* Proactively respond to logistics variables across land and sea transport to minimise financial risk.
About You
* Minimum 2+ years' experience in commodity or supply chain environments, with exposure to domestic and export logistics across multiple trade lanes looking to take the next step up in your career.
* Strong problem solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
* Advanced understanding of domestic and international trade terms and export shipping terminology.
* Solid knowledge of national and international geography, including ports and major logistics hubs.
* High attention to detail, strong computer skills, and a proactive, team‐oriented approach.
* In‐depth knowledge of domestic logistics providers and shipping lines operating within Australia and key global trade routes.
